Size & Weight

The Galaxy S8 Plus is quite a bit taller, slightly wider, slightly thicker and heavier. There is a very good reason for this and that is because you now get a much larger display screen, it is 0.7 inches bigger than the Galaxy S7 Edge.

The only difference between the two displays is the size and aspect ratio, the resolution remains the same and you still get a AMOLED display.

In the UK version of the S8 Plus and S7 Edge, you get the Exynos processor which is manufactured by Samsung. The S8 Plus comes with the latest Exynos 8895 processor, Samsung claim that the 8895 is 10% faster than the Exynos 8890 processor which is found in the S7 edge. You should expect better performance from the Galaxy S8 Plus thanks to the new updated processor.

RAM & Storage

Both phones have 4 GB of RAM, but you get twice the amount of storage in the 8 Plus. Internal storage has gone up from 32 GB to 64 GB.

Both phones have the same rear camera as well as having the same video camera. However, the front facing camera has been improved from 5 MP to 8 MP.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has a slightly smaller capacity battery. There isn’t much difference between the two in terms of performance. You also have to bear in mind that the S8 Plus has a larger display screen which requires more battery power. Both phones come with fast charging as well as wireless charging.

Verdict on The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus SIM Free

In terms of hardware specs there isn’t a lot of difference between the two. The changes in Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus have been quite suitable. They have added a slightly better processor, a lot more storage and a slightly better front facing camera.

The biggest changes have been in the looks department. You now get thinner bezels which gives you a better screen to body ratio, a sleeker modern looking phone that is taller thanks to its new aspect ratio.

Should you upgrade to the new Galaxy S8 plus? If you want a phone that has a new look and looks different to the rest of the phones that are currently available in the marketplace, if you want your phone to stand out, this phone will make sure it does. Then yes it is worth upgrading.
